About the Print

I have been incredibly fortunate to spend a lot of time at Moraine Lake. I used to guide hiking trips in the Rockies, and we often stayed at the lodge and hiked up to Sentinel Pass, paddled on the impossibly blue lake, and swam as the sun was setting. This place is so incredibly special and has become harder and harder to access as the park get busier, so my time up there after the crowds disappeared for the day was extremely precious.

The Canvas Tote was born with purpose: to fit all the vegetables you could ever need from the farmers market, to carry the entire charcuterie board and a pack of sparkly water to the lake, to transport towels, bathing suits and sunscreen for the whole famm damily to the beach.

Ok maybe it is just a bag with handles, but jeez it does a darn good job of it.

Care Instructions

First and foremost, your pack requires daily walks and adventures in order to maintain its well-being. And if you uphold these responsibilities, you may notice a light yet persistent layer of grubbiness form on the vibrant colors of your pack. When this happens, it may be time to give it the ol' scrub-a-dub. We've put together a short instructional video for your entertainment. Please enjoy.

  1. Remove backpad.
  2. Use any "grease" removal laundry detergent (here we use Spray & Wash with great success). Apply directly on pack or onto a rag or sponge and scrub vigorously over any dirty areas.
  3. Let the detergent soak in for about 5 minutes.
  4. Toss in the laundry. We recommend using hot water and then just not showering for a couple days to make up for it.
  5. Voila!

About the Artist

Emily Beaudoin is a mountain painter, illustrator, and muralist based in Canmore, Alberta. The mountains have always been her muses, and she hikes, skis, bikes, and paddles into the backcountry to paint what she sees. Painting peaks, flora, and fauna is how she expresses the love and respect she has for these wild places, and she doesn’t think she’ll ever tire of it or stop learning from her time outside.

Her paintings come to life in two different ways. Some days, she’s perched on a boulder beside a glacial lake with a backpack full of art supplies, racing to capture the changing light. Other times, she’s in the studio working from field sketches, photos, and memory, trying to get the colour of alpenglow just right. Her outdoor work is loose and instinctive, while her studio process is careful and obsessive, and she loves both for the different feelings they bring.

Emily hopes her art transports people to the ridges, summits, and valleys she explores and lets them feel that same sense of connection and awe. She believes people fight to protect wild places they have a relationship with, and if her art inspires even one person to get outside and become part of the wilderness, she’ll be a happy camper.
