Purpose: Multi-pitch Rock Climbing
Designed to go through hell and come out the other side, drag the Stud up an alpine grovel, or down a sandstone slot canyon. In a chimney? Tie the Stud into your belay loop and drag it behind you. Or simply haul it from the top of the pitch. Go and it will follow, unnoticed. In the event of a downpour, roll draw closure and synch overflow strap.
Cockroaches and Studs: both will still be kicking after the apocalypse. The Stud was named for its ability to free a two wheel drive mommy van from a snowbank on an unplowed backroad (it was a rental). The full story is available upon request.
- Internal zipper pocket
- ~ 20 liters
- Rope/overflow strap
- Water bladder compatible
- Removable back pad/bivy pad
- Weight: 16 oz.
“full-on burl and resilience with the compactness and simplicity of a pack that’s quite enjoyable to wear while climbing.” - Climbing Magazine
This is a really simple pack, not many bells and whistles, and I love that! Also, love the fact of no zippers on the outside (this is actually the reason I bought it). Thanks FRE!
From trips up the wall to trips across the world, I've taken my stud everywhere. I've used it almost daily for college classes, biking to the farmers market, carrying a 18 pack of natty light down the Las Vegas strip, XC skiing in Norway and packing it full of clothes to use as as a pillow at the end of a night of car camping. Simplicity wins.
Finally had to replace the buckles after 5 years, but looking forward to another 5! Thanks Tosch and Zoe
Used the Stud Pack for climbing, hiking, running, groceries and international travel.
Sometimes I wish the stud had a few more features or this or that but the simplicity wins every time. I have packed Trad rack and 70m rope with this bag it did great. I have ran it over with a large truck in a gravel parking lot it held up great. I packed for an 8 day Mexico trip using only this pack, it did great. My girlfriend is always stealing this pack because it is so great.
This pack sits higher on the back which gives it a nice balance for for extended run/hike/scramble/climb missions. I use it almost everyday, it is indispensable.
Simple bomber styling, perfect grab and go pack for around town or day adventures. Only recommendation would be some streamlined outer water bottle storage for quick hydration grabs
