The wilder cousin of the sunflower, Balsamroot adorns the hills of my home in the Methow for a brief window of time. Their squeeks are a memorable chorus singing out from the background of many of my hikes. I especially love watching them forage for local plant life to take back to their dens. You have just enough daylight to scope out the perfect spot to set up your tent. After it's pitched, you can watch the sky above the alpine become a creamsicle cocktail. Easy Pass was this kind of experience.
